    I have just ordered a set of the ‘modern baker,confectioner and caterer’ books from the website you gave me, its a set of 4,cost just under £50 with p&p.

    Weekend 

    Thanks to everyone for really enjoyable weekend.

    Can’t think of anything to complain about. Oh yeah, disabled  access was rubbish, especially when you’re pissed. In fact I don’t think booze should have been allowed on the premises. I kept imagining there were birds flying around in the bakery and, even more unlikely, there was an oven being towed around by a tractor, and I imagined we went down the pub to get a takeaway for the pigs …  never touched the absinthe …

      And thank you to everyone from me too. Another grand weekend of shared experience and (generally helpful!) advice. I have a new (bread) year resolution, not to do more baking, but to widen the repertoire – I feel the need to make brioche, and lamb-topped flatbread, and many more delights.

      And extra thanks to Joe, Martin and Caroline for unending and generous hospitality. Special respect having just seen the “before” pix on Flikr. Blimey, what you achieved!

    Lovely Week-end 

    Hello All,

    Thank you for a wonderful weekend I enjoyed it so much. It was informative and a great learning curve.  Looking forward to trying the new recipes and methods of proving and baking.

    So good to meet fellow bakers and other participants. Special thanks to Joe and Martin for organising the Dales Do! and of course Caroline. Your  hard work was appreciated by us all.

    Hope to see you at the next annual event.

      I fell asleep watching it on replay… what does that say about me.? Those programmes are not about the baking but about the people anyway. Though I liked the footage of the Merthyr Tydfil communal ovens.

          I ought to say thank you here too, though I have given thanks elsewhere 🙂 Thank you Joe for grand designs and Martin and Caroline and Mouse for opening your home to us in such a grand way and the great welcome and fine meals we had together. I loved meeting you all and the animals and having an opportunity to be with you all. I wish I had had more time to bake and had got my head together a bit more. And I really wished I’d stayed for a taste of that fab looking brioche Robin! Lovely to meet you Fran, Val , Phil, Terry and Stef and Allison and Stig, Ben, Jack, Mick,and Gareth – fun to be with you all again 🙂 I come back home and look at my suburban patch and wonder where I could fit an oven and a camp site…. fantasize about hiring one of those kitchens that come on a lorry….

    Photos 

    If we are very clever and organised and have a flickr group photo thing I can put a ‘widget’ in the side bar here which will link to it. Then everyone who wants to add / share photos can put them in and they will be all in one place. And anyone who wants to see them has an easy way to find them. If someone sets one up and then circulates the url and lets me have it I will put it on here. The other way is to upload photos into posts, but some people have had problems with that so flickr might be easier….? 🙂

    What do you think? I can’t do much till next week now as the computer has gone to the machine shop

      Thank you all for a great weekend – I came home stuffed with bread and the satisfaction of good bakin’! Will get my photos organised (ie delete most of the swallows!) and maybe someone will tell me how to get them into the flickr group – or do we all have to have an account?
      I will sort out the griddle recipe, you can all do it in the privacy of your own homes!
      Hae a good week all, maybe a bit less bread?! and THANKS!!

      I have used the bakingweekend flickr page to start a public group DDD2010 which anyone with a flickr account can join.

      I you don’t allready have a flickr page you will need to sign up and follow their instructions on how to upload photos.

        Not quite sure if I have done this right, I have put the RSS feed code for your photostream into the flickr link on the sidebar. Is that what you mean, if not could you email me a link to the public group you started, I searched for DDD2010 and came up with a cycling group? x Joanna

          If you look at the bakingweekend flickr profile DDD2010 should be shown as a group we are a member of. I have just sent you an invite to it, it is a public group so anybody can join. This is all new to me so it will be interesting to see if it works.

    I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone for letting me share this experience with you all, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and its sad that it is now over,I have learnt a lot more and hopefully it will make me better, that was the only time I have been around a number of Bakers and it was the best weekend I have had this year

    Martin and joe- Thank you very much for organising this and I hope we keep in touch,I will take all your advice with me and I hope it will make me better one day,

      It was great to meet you, and thanks in advance for the photos, I’m just in Darlington now, waiting for my train home,its been a fab weekend and yesterday we used martins small wood fired oven,it was great, I’ve got a few photos of it,

    Sorry this is a late reply and I apologise for not replying sooner.

    Have been finding it difficult getting back to speaking to people since I lost Mair.

    Am very glad the Baking weekend is coming together for you. I’m sorry I can’t be there.
    Very much hope your oven build came on okay.

    Hoping you might be this way sometime and we could bake a bit together.

    The Bakery is begining to pick up with me baking between 150 – 260 loaves a night 3 nights a week.

    Will be thinking of you all this weekend, please give my regards to everyone, hope it goes great for you, well done for organising it
