    Stuff to Bring Continued… 

    I see various enquiries buried in the original post.  So I’ll start a new post here.

    Allison asked about the availability of a griddle

    Phil asked about bringing bacon

    I was wondering vaguely if you had a muffin tin thing but I think I’ll just chuck mine in the car – still thinking about those pasteis ….

    Would rubber boots be advisable for going to and fro? And this might sound odd, but is there somewhere to hang coats/wet stuff up etc in the barn, an old broom handle that sort of thing?  Love those pics of the construction work by night Joe! I take my hat off to you for all the work you guys are doing.  Brian says he likes stretching pizza dough (hidden talents) so he’ll be up for helping with the pizza.

      Sorry, didnt see these requests.
      I have an 11″ square griddle along with various heavy flat pans.
      Phil bacon would be fine.
      No muffin stuff.
      I presume ‘rubber boots’ are wellies? If so you wont need them for getting here from The Bridge, but they would be a good idea if you wish to take a walk further afield (maybe to walk off to many muffins).
      There will be a ‘cloakroom’ available.
      (If I am a bit slow and these are requests for ‘girdles and rubber boots’ then maybe you have the wrong end of the stick (so to speak). The Dales Dom Do is the weekend after 🙂 )

        Yup wellies is what i meant! Galoshes, waterproofs, all the acoutrements of a traditional bank holiday weekend 🙂

      If anyone is wanting a baking pizza stone, I saw some for sale in Robert Dyas for under £8. Not tried these ones, but mine are from Pampered chef http://www.pamperedchef.co.uk/ordering/category_details.tpc?code=FH&id=9&parentCatId=9&parentId= and even though they are expensive, they are good quality and mine have lasted a while.

    Farmhouse tin from Minehead Run 

    New bread in old tin – popped out of tin as sweet as anything.

    A gift from Joe on his bakery kit foraging trip to Minehead in the summer. He’s been getting ready for this weekend for a long time 🙂

      If I go to Pattisons would you like a packet of dough scrapers, they are very cheap there compared to all the kitchen shops… or do you have dough scrapers coming out of your ears…?

    Joe’s Email to the Dales Dough Do

    August is here and the time for the Dales Dough Do is getting close. I am heading up north on Friday to build the oven so if all goes well we will have lots of room for baking.

    We have done fairly well on the beg borrow and steal front putting together a beautiful room for the event. We have loads of tins, flat trays, 10 round cane bannetons, three sets of domestic digital scales and about six square metres of linen I will cut up for for proving clothes. One of the main things we are short of is mixing bowls.

    We are going to need folks to bring mixing bowls and any other bit of equipment that is practical to transport. If you are travelling buy car could you have a think about what you could bring that would be useful. If you are on public transport it is less practical to bring equipment but if you can manage to bring a couple of plastic bowes in you luggage it would be mighty handy. Could you let us know what kit you can bring just so we know we will end up with a reasonable amount of stuff.

    (Just finished baking my first batch of epi they are great fun)

    For those folks who want to get involved with our themes I thought it could be interesting if we got some discussion going by email before the event about recipes and what your are interested in doing. I want to keep things informal as its interesting to see different recipes and techniques in action. The themes, baguettes on Saturday morning and Shaping/Shapes on Sunday morning are just a starting point please feel free to take them where ever you interest leads.
